Supporting Charities

"Be good to yourself today, so you can be the good for others tomorrow."

That’s not just something we say, it’s how we live, and it’s the heart of everything we support. When you take care of your body, your mind, your heart and your spirit, something powerful happens. You lift yourself, and suddenly you’ve got the strength to lift others too.

Families, friends, teams, communities and everyone around you benefits when you’re fuelled, fulfilled and firing on all cylinders. That’s why we proudly support charities that are doing the real work, helping people rise, recover, rebuild and realise their own strength.

These organisations reach those who are struggling and offer a hand, a voice, a place to start again. And by backing them, we’re putting our ethos into action. Every donation, every share, every show of support makes a difference.

If you’ve ever said, “I wish I could do more,” this is your moment.

Be good to yourself, then join us in doing good for others.

National Three Peaks 24-Hour Challenge

21st June 2025 · Teenage Cancer Trust · Extension of Triple Marathon Fundraiser

Ben Nevis Summit - 4,413 ft

Scafell Pike Summit - 3,209 ft

Snowdon Summit - 3,560 ft

We tackled the UK Three Peaks Challenge, and successfully climbed Scotland, England and Wales’ highest mountains within 24 hours as an extension to Martin's Couch 3 Marathons in 2 weeks within 14 months challenge fundraiser for Teenage Cancer Trust.

We experienced every weather and every emotion along the way - starting with sunshine and smiles on Ben Nevis, getting hours ahead of our target timings, then a long drive to the Lake District, where torrential downpours and lightning brought the mental challenges on Scafell. Finally, a stormy drive to Wales for the most physical challenge of ascending Snowdon in darkness, fog and gale-force winds on zero sleep with knackered legs, with a mad dash descent to hit that 23h56m finish time.

Like most families, ours has been affected by cancer. Losing my uncle, my father’s twin brother, to pancreatic cancer. My father survived thyroid cancer. Bouts of skin cancer. The hardest though was my cousin’s daughter, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at age 14; even though there was an initial reprieve, it soon came back and despite the best efforts, expert treatment and support from Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT) unit at the Leeds General Infirmary she lost her brave battle 5 years later.

Money donated will help fund this special charity, ensuring it can support other teenagers and their families throughout treatment and, hopefully, into remission.

In 2014, my working lifestyle with my business transformation company led me to weigh 154kg/340lb with a 54"/137cm waist at age 43, feeling like I was 74, lethargic, warn out and not as performant as I once was with backache, brain fog and trouble breathing and even getting out of bed was a struggle. By age 45, I weighed just 94kg/207lb with a 32”/81cm waist, feeling fantastic and performing better than I ever have.

I now specialise in transforming busy and overweight business owners and consultants into fitter, happier, and more confident people because I understand the unique challenges you face and why, up until this point, it has not been easy to fit your health into your lifestyle.

I continued to set myself new challenges to “walk the talk”, which included starting in February 2024, when I was not a runner, supporting my wife in achieving one of her ambitions, running a 10K race, I had to start running. As an asthmatic, this was a daunting prospect, as I have been hospitalised in the past. However, in 6 months, I had gone from not running to competing in the York 10k, raising money for the RNLI as part of my 10K journey.

Now my challenge is to complete the London Marathon on the 27th of April 2025, 14 months after I started to run, followed by the Milton Keynes Marathon the next week on the 5th of May and then the Rob Burrows Leeds Marathon on the next within 2 weeks on the 11th of May.

I've publicly shared my journey from “couch” to 10k on social media and will continue to do so through my training and events. I am really happy to run the world’s most famous Marathon. I am seeking sponsorship and support to complete all 3 marathons on behalf of Teenage Cancer Trust.

Fundraising update: A massive thank you to everyone who’s supported me on the 3-marathon challenge in just 2 weeks journey! I still can’t believe it’s been a month since I crossed the final finish line! It was tough, emotional, and unforgettable. An extra big thank you to everyone who donated and helped raise £3,075 towards the nearly £1 million total for Teenage Cancer Trust. Every penny will go to supporting young people with cancer.

Here’s how they unfolded:

🏃 London (27th April) 5:11:59

🏃 Milton Keynes (5th May) 5:50:59

🏃 Leeds (11th May) 5:25:02

Yes, I’ve been sore (for weeks), as I always say: be good to yourself first, so you can be good for others. Recovery’s going well and now… it’s time for the next challenge! Up next: Leeds 10K on 15th June! I’m aiming to match, or beat, my time from last year’s York 10K, which kicked off this whole running adventure.

The journey doesn’t stop there. The next big goal is… climbing Kilimanjaro! I’m building a team for the trek.

Jane Tomlinson Run For All York 10K

4 August 2024 · Royal National Lifeboat Institution · £345.00

Martin Sharp is raising money for RNLI - Royal National Lifeboat Institution

In January 2024, I promised to support my wife in achieving one of her bucket list items of running a 10k race, by running it with her, especially as the event is happening on her birthday this year and in our home city of York.

The thing is I am not a runner, suffer from asthma and need to learn how to overcome both of these with just over 6 months of training.

The Jane Tomlinson Run For All York 10k has been described as one of the country’s most beautiful city runs. Since its launch in 2009, the event has also grown into one of Yorkshire’s most popular 10Ks, offering runners the unique opportunity to race through the heart of this wonderful city.

The route starts and finishes in Knavesmire Road, close to York Racecourse. It then takes in some of the city’s most historic landmarks, including the ancient city walls, Clifford’s Tower and the minster.

The atmosphere will be electric from start to finish.

The Jane Tomlinson Appeal helps children to be happier and healthier and improves the lives of people living with cancer.

However, for the past few years, we've been raising money for the RNLI because as canoeists and lovers of the water, having people there just in case there is a problem provides confidence that support will be there if needed.

You see, too many people are still drowning. More than ever, we need the RNLI’s help. As a charity, the RNLI depends on our donations so it can go on saving lives and keeping us and our loved ones safe.

RNLI lifesavers are our lifeline. They’re the lifeboat crews who provide 24-hour search and rescue right around the UK and Ireland. The lifeguards are keeping watch on 240 of the busiest beaches in the UK and the Channel Islands. And the RNLI safety teams and educators are working tirelessly to stop people getting into trouble in the first place. Thank you.

About The Charities We Support

About Teenage Cancer Trust

Every day, seven young people aged 13-24 hear the words ”You have cancer”.

Cancer doesn’t just devastate their health. It threatens to take away everything they care about: their identity, their independence, and their dreams.

Teenage Cancer Trust funds specialist nurses, youth support teams and hospital units within the NHS to provide the very best care and support during treatment and beyond, making sure cancer doesn’t stop young people from living their lives.

Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to meeting this vital need.

Jane Tomlinsons Run For All

Run For All is part of the lasting legacy of the late amateur athlete and fundraiser Jane Tomlinson CBE. Jane, from Leeds, made headlines around the world by taking part in a series of incredible endurance events - despite being diagnosed with an incurable cancer.

Every year, tens of thousands of people take part in their popular events – running for charity, for a personal challenge or just for fun.

The first event was a 10k run hosted in Leeds – despite growing significantly, Run For All’s philosophy remains exactly the same;

high-quality, great fun events for absolutely all abilities..

Hiking The Cleveland Way 109 Miles in 5 days

17 June 2023 · Royal National Lifeboat Institution · £1,169.00

Martin Sharp is raising money for RNLI - Royal National Lifeboat Institution

We are preparing for a new adventure this June, raising money for a valuable part of the UK Coastline. We will be walking the Cleveland Way, a national route, which is recommended to be completed in 9 days, however, we aim to complete it in 5… so it will be a challenge to complete more miles each day than a Roman legion, this is not just a long distance walk but a race against the clock. The journey will take us from Helmsley to The Brigg at Filey completing a total distance of 109 miles, in order to raise money for the RNLI!

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution are a charity that saves lives at sea. Powered primarily by donations, the @rnli was founded in 1824 and has since grown to operate from 238 lifeboat stations and 220 beach lifeguard units. Since opening its doors the organisation has saved 143,900+ lives, in 2021 408 lives were saved by the brave operational crew, 97% of which, are volunteers...

Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge In Under 12 hours

28 August 2022 · Royal National Lifeboat Institution · £465.00

Martin Sharp is raising money for RNLI - Royal National Lifeboat Institution

Andy A and I are going to attempt The Yorkshire Three Peaks, which is 24 miles (38.6km), and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent on Sunday.

While talking about it with some of our friends, we thought it would be great to be able to raise some money for a good cause at the same time.

Both of us love the water, and so many other people do as well. With both Andy and I canoeing all over, surfing along the coasts of the UK and enjoying swimming in the sea plus playing on the beaches with our families.

In fact, I met Andy in 2003 on a canoeing river trip in York.

Yet while there is so much beauty and enjoyment that can and should be shared, there is also the danger that comes from nature as well.

We know this is probably short notice, though better late than never, and hope you will give generously to the essential service that RNLI provide.
