A big thank you to Daniel Sheridan
Two talented snow sculptors from Leeds, Justin Scott and Martin Sharp, are set to create a snow sculpture of Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards on an Austrian mountain. This project is part of the international "Shapes in White" competition in Ischgl, Austrian Tirol, where sculptors from around the world come to showcase their skills. The event runs from January 10-14, 2022, and attracts some of the top figurative sculptors globally.
Justin Scott, a seasoned sculptor who has been participating in this competition since 2001, and Martin Sharp, a business consultant and fitness coach, will work with 100 tonnes of snow to craft their tribute to Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards. The sculpture will depict the famous ski jumper soaring over the Alpine mountains, capturing his iconic leap from the 1988 Winter Olympics.
The competition not only challenges the sculptors to create stunning works of art but also to overcome the elements and time constraints. The sculptures will be on display for winter sports enthusiasts to admire until they melt in the spring. The event is a testament to the creativity and resilience of these artists, bringing a touch of British influence to the snowy peaks of Austriaβ
