I’ve just been featured in The Press York  and I’ve spoken about creating a snow sculpture in record time in the Arctic Circle and you can see the interview here https://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/23286904.north-yorkshire-friends-beat-record-snow-sculpture-competition/

A big thank you to Luana Ribeira

Two friends from North Yorkshire, Martin Sharp and Justin Scott, just broke a record in an international snow sculpture competition in Sweden, held 140km north of the Arctic Circle. Competing against top sculptors from around the world, they completed their sculpture, "Figurative Animate X Three," in just two days—setting a new event record.

Martin, a fitness coach, and Justin, a tree surgeon, have been sculpting together for years. Their secret? A combination of fitness, creativity, and teamwork. The softer snow in Sweden allowed them to work quickly, finishing in just 15-16 hours. They also found the lower altitude much easier to work in compared to a previous competition in Austria.

The duo didn’t win this time, but they did soak up the experience, enjoying the camaraderie with fellow artists and the chance to inspire kids who came to watch and try their own hand at snow sculpting. After the competition, they celebrated with traditional Lapland activities like dog sledding and visiting an ice hotel.

Martin and Justin’s success is a testament to how staying fit and working together can lead to extraordinary achievements—even in the snow!
