Breakthrough!!!

fitness & lifestyle Jul 15, 2022

What is it that you want to achieve and when will you know that you have earned it?

I found the size 48 shorts that I purchased on that holiday and found I can now fit my whole body into just one leg. I can quote to you that today I have lost near 40% of my body mass weighing in at 97kg/214lb. Also that I can share clothes if I wish (and if he lets me) with my 19-year-old son!

Yet the reality is that the scales lie and the sizes are irrelevant. What matters is how you feel, what you can do and your personal happiness.

Body image is something I, like so many other people, wrestle with. That fear of being judged and humiliated. So when I was challenged to do a photoshoot as a commitment to complete my body transformation, not by my coach, but by my colleagues as peer encouragement, you may be able to empathise with the feeling of dread that haunted me ever since.

However, in making that commitment it reminded me of a talk given by ex Footballer and ultra-Endurance Adventurer @LukeTyburskiAthlete back in 2015 where he described your comfort zone as a hula hoop.

So many people spend their lives feeling the restriction of their hoop so push it forwards a little, growing a little and shuffling along within their hoop.

Yet to really accomplish anything transformative, sometimes you have to grab your hoop, launch it as far as you can in front of you. Then run like mad to try and catch up with it.

After 18 months I finally caught my hula hoop.

How far are you willing to throw yours?
