Introduction

Would you agree we live In a world where prioritising health and vitality is paramount? Enter infrared light therapy – an approach to wellness that offers a myriad of benefits, ranging from detoxification and pain relief to improved circulation and beyond through the use of light.

So, first of all, what is infrared light therapy? You may already be familiar with saunas and potentially use them, knowing that it is the heat they produce that provides the beneficial effect. One source of that heat is the infrared part of the electromagnetic spectrum, which warms the skin. Unlike ultraviolet light, which can damage skin, infrared light enhances cell regeneration in a safe, natural, non-invasive, and painless way.

While the northern hemisphere enjoys the switch into Spring and Summer, we get the benefit of infrared when we are outside on those sunny days. Just remember your SPF sunscreen to protect you from the UV rays, though there are other sources of infrared that can provide that warming glow.

There have been many studies that show a positive correlation between Infrared light therapy and a host of health benefits. Though it is important to note this is not medical advice and purely just a point of interest I wanted to share. With that said, let’s dive right into it.

Pain Relief:

Infrared light therapy offers an effective and natural solution for pain management by targeting inflammation, which in turn reduces nerve sensitivity while promoting the release of endorphins. So, if you have chronic pain stemming from injuries or underlying medical conditions, this kind of therapy could add some control and improve your lifestyle.

Detoxification:

Concentrated Infrared light penetrates deep into tissues, stimulating cellular metabolism and aiding the body’s natural detoxification process. Consequently, the release of toxins and metabolic waste is sped up, helping to restore vitality.

Reduction of muscle tension:

Tense muscles can cause discomfort and hinder mobility. Infrared therapy can reduce muscle tension by increasing blood flow to the affected area, allowing relaxation and enhancing flexibility.

Improved circulation:

Red light exposure can enhance blood flow, which is essential for carrying oxygen around the body to supply tissues and organs with the nutrients they need.

Weight loss:

This one is a bit of a debate… There has been some evidence that infrared light therapy can influence weight loss by promoting detoxification, boosting metabolism, and aiding in the breakdown of fat cells. However, the impact of this kind of therapy is minuscule. It is in no way a substitution for a healthy lifestyle—certainly nothing that I have observed personally.

Skin Purification:

Studies show that infrared light therapy impacts collagen production, which reduces wrinkles and improves overall skin tone and texture.

Effects of Diabetes

For individuals diagnosed with diabetes, it is essential to monitor blood sugar levels and mitigate any potential problems. Some studies have shown that infrared light therapy can improve insulin sensitivity and reduce neuropathic pain.

Lowering Blood Pressure:

High blood pressure can lead to cardiovascular disease and other health complications. Infrared therapy has been shown to lower blood pressure by promoting relaxation, stress reduction, and circulation improvements.

Immune system:

Concentrated exposure to inferred light helps strengthen the immune system by stimulating the production of white blood cells, which fight infection and disease.

In conclusion, Inferred light therapy has many advantages that can be combined with other healthy habits to enhance your lifestyle. The use of red light is most efficient for muscle relaxation to help overcome general muscle soreness or stabilise the healing process of past or present injuries. This kind of therapy is not a stand-alone solution but can help reduce the severity of certain issues.
