York Marathon Day Social Run 2026

A cold grey day in York. Bursts of rain. Strong gusts of wind. And a group of runners who turned up anyway. Today’s Marathon Day Social Run with See York Run York was about more than distance. It was about community, consistency and marking a milestone.

One year ago, at this very event, I completed my first marathon distance surrounded by incredible support. Today, I returned and ran 8 laps to finish another full marathon. Same event. Different level of strength. Different level of belief. The conditions were testing, yet the atmosphere was warm, friendly and encouraging throughout. Huge thanks to the See York Run York team for organising such a welcoming event year after year, and to every runner who shared the miles today.

It’s bittersweet knowing this was the final year the event will run. It’s played a meaningful part in my journey. This also marks my last long long run before I begin tapering for my first ultramarathon in March. The hard work is in. Now it’s about recovery, focus and carrying momentum forward. Thanks for being part of the journey.
