A huge thank you to the ITV Calendar Afternoon News team!
Me, a business performance, fitness and lifestyle coach from York, and along with my friend Justin Scott, a tree surgeon from Driffield, recently had the honour of representing Yorkshire in an international snow sculpting competition in Japan. This was an incredible experience where we got to showcase our work on the global stage.
Our sculpture was developed around a theme that’s both fascinating and timely—the birth of artificial intelligence (AI). We depicted AI as a robotic figure with a screen for a head, symbolising the emergence of technology in our world. The design was all about light shining through this new form of life, representing the dawn of a new era.
The competition brought together sculptors from around the world, and it was amazing to meet so many talented people who share the same passion for this unique art form. The atmosphere was fantastic, and even though it was our first time meeting many of these artists, we instantly bonded.
In true Yorkshire spirit, we made sure to bring a taste of home with us—we shared some Yorkshire tea with our fellow competitors, which was a fun way to connect and share a bit of our culture.
Completing this sculpture in Japan was a rewarding experience, and we’re proud of what we created. It was a great opportunity to represent Yorkshire on an international stage, and we’re excited about what the future holds for our snow sculpting adventures.
